Classic Anebabero
Finished with berbere
Two layers of fresh teff injera soaked in slow-clarified niter kibbeh and hand-blended berbere — the plate exactly as it is made at home.
Ethiopian tradition · Made modern
Anebabero is layered injera soaked in spiced butter — the comfort food of home, prepared fresh and packed neatly for today's table. Two plates only: the classic, finished with berbere, and our modern one without the berbere topping.

Our story
Anebabero was the plate that appeared when someone had been away, or when the house needed cheering up. Nobody wrote the recipe down — you learned it by standing beside someone who already knew.
We make it the same way, with the same patience, and then we take care of the part that used to be hardest: getting it to you fresh, neat, and ready to eat.
We start with teff flour and a starter that has been kept alive and fed, the way it was in our family kitchen.
Each sheet of injera is cooked to order, so the honeycomb stays soft and the edges stay slightly crisp.
Chillies, garlic and warming spices are ground together in small batches — never bought pre-mixed.
Two layers of injera are brushed with slow-clarified niter kibbeh and berbere, then packed so it reaches you as intended.

Our house blend: dried chillies, garlic, fenugreek and a quiet note of korarima. It sets the whole dish.

Butter clarified slowly with herbs until it turns golden and fragrant. This is where the richness comes from.

Naturally gluten-free, mildly sour, and soft enough to soak up butter and spice without tearing.

Reviews
It tasted like the plate my grandmother used to make, but it arrived neat and still warm. I ordered again the same week.
The butter and berbere balance is exactly right — rich, but you can still taste the injera. Nothing greasy about it.
I gave the modern one a try without berbere and it still tasted like home — the butter and the injera did all the work. My guests asked for it again.

Layers of teff injera soaked in slow-clarified spiced butter and berbere, so the bread carries the flavour all the way through. It is comfort food from home — we simply make it fresh and pack it properly.
Classic Anebabero carries real heat from the berbere, balanced rather than sharp. Modern Anebabero has no berbere topping at all, so it stays mild. Tell us your preference in the order note and we'll adjust.
Injera made from pure teff is naturally gluten-free. If a dish ever includes another grain, we'll say so plainly before you order it.
Classic Anebabero is finished the traditional way, with our hand-blended berbere worked through the layers. Modern Anebabero is our speciality: the same injera and the same slow-clarified butter, but no berbere topping, so the teff and the butter are what you taste.
